Julio Pereira
Director and Producer of several award-winning Short Films, Documentaries, Music Videos, TV and Advertising.
Born in Portugal, he lived 12 years in London where he studied Film and Media at Birkbeck University of London. During this time, he worked as an Audiovisual and Theatre Technician at the Institute of Contemporary Arts for 8 years (ICA). In London he made a documentary with the philosopher and psychoanalyst Slavoj Zizek and one with the designer Roger K. Burton, among many more.
Back in Lisbon in 2011, he continued his career as a Writer/Producer at Fox Internacional Channels and National Geographic Channels for 5 years.
In 2016 he dedicated himself exclusively to writing and making films, including 4 short films that went through the International Festivals circuit, two of which were awarded prizes and one of which entered the Short Corner of Cannes in 2018. He produced 4 short documentaries for Channels News Asia and also made several music videos.
He recently directed a 70 minutes Documentary about the Portuguese Dictatorship and he has been directing and producing the Channel 4 TV program "A New Life in the Sun" and "Help! We Bought a Village".
In 2022, he moved to Barcelona and have won the best Microcorto at the L'Alternative Film Festival at the CCCB and reached the finals at the TMB Film Festival.
