JULIO PEREIRA

Julio Pereira is a visionary director and producer whose work spans award-winning short films, documentaries, music videos, TV shows, and advertising campaigns. Born in Portugal, Julio's journey in the world of film began in London, where he spent 12 transformative years. While studying Film and Media at Birkbeck University of London, Julio honed his craft as an Audiovisual and Theatre Technician at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) for eight years. During this time, he collaborated with renowned figures such as philosopher and psychoanalyst Slavoj Zizek and designer Roger K. Burton, creating compelling documentaries that left a lasting impact.

In 2011, Julio returned to Lisbon and continued his creative journey as a Writer/Producer at Fox International Channels and National Geographic Channels for five years. His passion for storytelling led him to dedicate himself exclusively to filmmaking in 2016. Julio's short films have captivated audiences at international festivals, earning accolades and a coveted spot at the Short Corner of Cannes in 2018. His work includes four short documentaries for Channel News Asia and numerous music videos. Julio's talent extends to television, where he has directed and produced popular programs for Channel 4, including "A New Life in the Sun" and "Help! We Bought a Village".

In 2022, he moved to Barcelona, where he won the Best Microcorto award at the L'Alternative Film Festival at the CCCB and reached the finals at the TMB Film Festival. His recent documentary, "A Cor da Liberdade," explores the Portuguese dictatorship and won the audience award at the Political Film Festival. Julio's dedication to preserving our oceans through Seathefuture showcases his commitment to impactful storytelling.

Currently, Julio is working on an exciting new documentary, "Music, Choice and Destiny," which delves into the lives of seven musicians, each connected by their passion and fate in the world of music.
